Frequently asked questions

All live classes are offered through Zoom, a video conferencing platform. Using a laptop or desktop with a webcam and microphone is recommended, though a tablet or smartphone may also be used.

3 Easy Steps To Taking a Class:

  1. Register for your class in advance.

  • Registration closes 5 minutes before the start of group classes.

  • You will be emailed a Zoom link specific to your class upon registration.

  1. Set up your yoga mat and computer.

  • If possible, set your mat up horizontal to your computer and far enough away to be in full view of the instructor.

  1. Click on your Zoom link.

  • You will initially be in a virtual waiting room. The instructor will admit you prior to the start time.

  • Please remain muted and turn your camera on once you are settled and ready to participate.

  • Have a yoga mat and comfortable clothing that you can move freely in.

  • Props, including yoga blocks, a strap, yoga blankets, a bolster, and/or a chair may be suggested during classes to support physical alignment or comfort within a pose; however, are not required.

  • These props may be substituted with common household objects if looking for the desired effect but do not have specific yoga props on hand.

    Examples:

    • A soft belt, scarf or thin towel may be used in place of a yoga strap.

    • A beach towel or thick blanket may be substituted for a yoga blanket.

    • A firm pillow or stacked blankets may replace a bolster.

Yes! Here are some considerations for the best online experience.

  • Please be respectful and kind to the instructor, your fellow students, and yourself.

  • Get to know the Zoom platform before attending.

  • Dress appropriately.

    • Cover all areas typically under a bathing suit.

  • Be ready.

    • Set up your computer, mat, and have any props within reach so that you do not have to wander off to find your yoga props during class.

    • If possible, show up a few minutes early.

      • In a group class, the instructor may greet students or share suggestions for prop use before class.

      • This is a good time to private message the teacher with any personal concerns that would suggest the need to offer variations (ex., "I am going easy on my wrists today.")

      • It is also important for you to simply take a moment, a few breaths, and to let yourself settle in.

      • Keep in mind that late admittance cannot be guaranteed once the class has begun.

  • Please mute for group classes.

    • Random background noises can be distracting to the instructor and others.

  • Camera on or off?

    • It is generally preferable to the instructor that cameras are on. Being able to see the students assists the instructor in how to guide the class safely and provide supportive cues, which can be very valuable. Having said that, camera use is optional. Your comfort is a priority.

  • Plan to stay for the entire class.

    • The final pose in the class is typically a resting pose and a very important component of your practice. It offers the mind and body a chance to process what it has experienced during class and the nervous system the opportunity to rest and reset.

    • If you have to step out early, exit the class before picking up or moving around to minimize distractions to others.
